City Council Information
The City of Eufaula operates under a statutory Council-Manager system. In this form of government, an elected City Council is responsible for making policy, passing ordinances and approving the City’s budget. The Council appoints a city manager who implements the policies the Council adopts.
The Council is comprised of five members. Four members are elected by Ward, while the fifth member is elected at large to the Free Holder position. The Council elects one of its members to serve as mayor and another to serve as vice-mayor. Members are elected to four-year terms.
The City Council adopted its current Strategic Plan on September 9, 2019. This plan identifies both the pressing needs and the long term goals of the community. The Five Key Pillars adopted by the City Council are: Reliable Infrastructure, Economic Development, Tourism and Recreation, Health Care, and Financial Sustainability.
On March 6, 2019 the City Council adopted the City Council Handbook to maintain and strengthen a culture of sound governance and strong financial management in order to provide the highest quality of life for the community.
